The second brain:

The intriguing world of gut health

Gut health: the key to a healthy brain, a strong immune system, and a happier life?

Our gut, often referred to as our “second brain,” plays a crucial role in our overall health and wellbeing. This complex system is closely connected to our nervous system, especially the vagus nerve, which acts like an information highway between the brain and the gut. This connection is essential for regulating various bodily functions and influencing our mood and mental health. In this article, you will learn how gut health, through the vagus nerve, affects your general health. This can help you take your health back into your own hands.

The vagus nerve:

the communication bridge between the brain and the gut

The connection between our brain and our gut is fascinating and more complex than we often realize. The vagus nerve, the longest nerve in the autonomic nervous system, plays a key role in communication between the brain and the gut (Dinan and Cryan, 2017). This “wandering nerve” runs from the brainstem deep into the abdominal cavity and creates a two way communication system between the central nervous system and the gastrointestinal tract.

This nerve regulates various bodily functions, including digestion, inflammatory responses, and mood. That is exactly why this two way communication is so important for our overall wellbeing. When the vagus nerve does not function properly, it can disrupt the gut-brain axis and eventually lead to chronic health problems (Breit et al., 2018). By stimulating the vagus nerve, for example through deep breathing, meditation, or humming, we can support our gut health and overall wellbeing.

The impact of a disrupted microbiome on gut health

It has long been known that a disrupted gut microbiome can lead to a range of health problems. An imbalanced gut flora can result in digestive issues, a weakened immune system, inflammation, and even mood disorders. It is essential to maintain the diversity and balance of your gut bacteria for optimal gut health (Thursby and Juge, 2017).

The importance of butyrate producing bacteria for a healthy gut flora

Besides the diversity of the entire gut microbiome, so called butyrate producing bacteria are also an important part of a healthy microbiome. These bacteria play a crucial role in the health of our gut and our overall wellbeing (Marchesi et al., 2016).

Butyrate is a short chain fatty acid produced by these bacteria. It not only serves as fuel for the cells of the gut, but also has anti inflammatory properties and can strengthen the intestinal barrier. In addition, butyrate stimulates the production of serotonin, which has a positive effect on our mood and cognitive functions. It is therefore not surprising that people with a shortage of these bacteria often experience depressive symptoms.

That is why it is so important to support the growth of butyrate producing bacteria in our microbiome. This can be done, among other things, by choosing a fiber rich diet, probiotics, and a healthy lifestyle. Butter also naturally contains this valuable fatty acid.

Analemma Water and sound therapy from InformationMedicine increase butyrate producing bacteria!

In our small scale study, we showed that Analemma Water can increase the amount of butyrate producing bacteria and improve the diversity of the microbiome. Both factors are important in helping to counter an unhealthy gut lining, which is often the result of an imbalanced microbiome.

Another remarkable outcome was the pilot study that investigated the effect of sound therapy from Information Medicine in humans. This study also showed that the intentional use of sound frequencies has positive effects on the microbiome and therefore on overall wellbeing. For more information, click here.

The consequences of a leaky gut:
understanding the impact of an unhealthy lifestyle

A damaged intestinal lining, also known as a “leaky gut,” can allow unwanted substances and particles to enter the bloodstream. This can then trigger a chain reaction of inflammation and place an extra burden on the immune system (Camilleri et al., 2012).

Leaky gut has been linked to a wide range of health issues, ranging from digestive disorders (Fasano, 2020) and skin conditions to autoimmune diseases (Mu et al., 2017). In addition, the connection between the gut and the brain through the vagus nerve means that this inflammation can also affect the brain, which may lead to neurological or mental health problems (Carabotti et al., 2015). That is why it is crucial to keep the gut barrier healthy and address the underlying causes of leaky gut.

Nutrition and lifestyle: key factors for a healthy gut

A fiber rich diet with plenty of vegetables and fermented foods is essential for a healthy gut flora. Avoiding processed foods, sugar, and artificial additives can help maintain the diversity of gut bacteria. In addition, factors such as getting enough sunlight, preferably already at sunrise, grounding (touching the earth with bare feet), regular exercise, sufficient sleep, and stress management, play a crucial role in supporting a healthy gut.

Conclusion:
the intriguing connection between gut health and wellbeing

Gut health is a complex and fascinating topic that has a profound effect on our overall wellbeing. Once we understand that the gut functions as our “second brain,” and that it continuously communicates with the brain through the vagus nerve, it becomes clear how important a healthy gut flora really is. This means we can not only prevent or repair a leaky gut, but also actively improve our gut health (Belkaid and Hand, 2014). With the right nutrition, lifestyle choices, and attention to the vagus nerve, we can improve both our gut health and our quality of life.

Desiree Schinkel

The water tastes very soft and looks crystal clear. I sleep much better and have more energy. I no longer go anywhere without my water bottle filled with coherent water or my water wand.

Rachèl Kolmeijer

The water is softer and tastes better. My skin looks much smoother and fresher than before. I also notice that I have more energy and my intestinal flora and bowel movements are much calmer and more stable. Not a day goes by without the water wand. Our whole family enjoys it!

Stephan, Germany

The difference between unstructured water and Analemma Water was already very noticeable when drinking it. So I did this little experiment to see for myself the results on plants. I bought a bag of seeds from the garden section of a store nearby. I’ve planted them in the same soil. The only difference: the green pot was watered with untreated tap water and the black pot with the same water, but treated with the Analemma water wand. Right at the beginning there was alerady a slight advantage in germinating in the black pot. Overall, the basil in the black pot looked much healthier and more vital, and most importantly, it contained the most leaves!

About a month ago, I bought an Analemma water wand. I had heard your story on several podcasts and it resonated with me SO much that I finally decided to buy one. In the first few weeks, I never drank so much water in my life. It was like I needed to replenish myself! Now it has stabilized, but I still drink more water than ever before. And I take the water wand with me everywhere I go. I feel more grounded and somehow there is more peace and clarity. My children and my partner also love the water.

Beau, Netherlands

Using the Analemma gives me the feeling of clarity and grounding, and it brings my body to a place of inner peace. I notice it even more clearly when I haven’t thought about it for a while. For example, sometimes it falls out of my routine for a few weeks. When I start stirring the Analemma through my water again, it brings me back and I realize how important it is to continue taking care of my water and how much impact it has on me. Water is Life.

Jeannette, Netherlands

Since I purchased the Analemma House unit, I have especially noticed a difference with my husband. He had long suffered from fungal infections, and since he has been showering and bathing with this water, they have not returned.
In addition, we are both sensitive to gluten, but since drinking this water before and after eating, we notice much less trouble with our bowels. Perhaps this is due to changes in the microbiome there.
Another thing we noticed is that our cats, who never used to drink water from their bowl (they always preferred drinking from ditches and puddles in the garden), now suddenly do! To me, that is proof that it works for every organism.

Bob, Netherlands – Or…

I have been working with Analemma water for a long time in my greenhouse, where I grow organic vegetables. In addition, I also have another greenhouse where I grow conventional crops for seeds. Both greenhouses are in Almere and have basically the same soil, yet I notice that the soil in the greenhouse with Analemma water is much healthier.
Plants immediately develop beautiful roots, and I can feel and see every day that the soil contains more vitality and biodiversity. In my greenhouse you see life everywhere—birds come because there are plenty of worms living in the soil.
I wish that more people who already grow consciously would embrace Analemma Water.

Rosa, America

Water is sacred to me and the quality is so important. The water I drink must be clean, textured and pure because of the health of my kidneys.

When I came across the Analemma water wand on Instagram, I was interested and curious to see if this would help me. I looked at it for a while and then I finally bought it. I use the wand first, before adding my minerals. The water tasted great! I could definitely tell there was a difference because I tasted the water without the wand and it wasn’t as smooth and silky.
This Analemma water is the only water I drink now. I feel good about it, also because I know that the wand hydrates my water even better. My dog, who has cancer, loves this water and can’t stop drinking it! I truly believe this is a great device and I am so grateful to have one, thank you so much.

Erica, Netherlands

I am very satisfied with my Analemma House unit. It makes incredibly soft, vital and delicious water. I am really impressed! As I mentioned, we already had very good whole-house filters to remove toxins, but this one takes the water to the next level in terms of taste, texture and energy.

When I take a bath, I also notice a big difference in relaxation. When I relax, I fall asleep much faster now, but when I get out of the bath, I actually have more energy!

Stephanie, Netherlands

I wanted to let you know how happy we are with the House unit! Our skin, our gut and our plants have never been healthier. We also had a nice surprise; our dog, who has suffered from mold and allergies for years, is now cured! She drinks the water, and we saw over the past few weeks that everything is healed. She was on medication, but still had hotspots and swollen paws, and now it’s all gone. I hope you will also investigate the effect on pets, because this is downright miraculous! Thank you so much! ♥
